What to Do During Spring Break in Benzie County

BENZIE COUNTY – Looking for something to do in Benzie County over spring break?

Here are a few organizations and businesses that have activities for families and students of all ages.

Cognition Science and Discovery Center

Located in Beulah, the Cognition Science and Discovery Center offers a wide variety of exhibits and interactive science-related activities for young minds.

Cognition is home to a variety of live animal exhibits, including snakes, hedgehogs, carnivorous plants, insects, and turtles.

Other science exhibits include a virtual reality lab, computer programming lab, electricity and gears exhibit, sailing exhibit, maker space and more.


Cognition also has a gift shop filled with all kinds of science-focused gifts, from science kits and books to realistic creatures.

The Cognition Science and Discovery Center is located at 232 N. Michigan Ave., Beulah. Special Spring Break hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 28 through April 2 and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 3. For more information, visit discovercognition.org or call 231-383-4095.

Crystal Mountain Resort and Spa

Crystal Mountain Resort and Spa hosts special events during Spring Break, with a different activity each day.

March 28, 30 and April 1, 2

Outdoor laser tag at 6:15 p.m. Must be at least 6 years old to participate and costs $15 per person. Reservation required, call 888-968-7686 ext. 7000.

March 29 and 31

Archery at 5 p.m. Must be at least 7 years old to participate and the cost is $19 per person. Call 888-968-7686 ext. 7000 to reserve a place.

April 2

Archery at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Must be at least 7 years old to participate and costs $19 per person. Call 888-968-7686 ext. 7000 to reserve a place.

Horse Drawn Surrey Ride from 5:30 p.m. Rides are $12 for ages 4 and up. Children 3 and under are free. Call 888-968-7686 ext. 7000 for reservations.

Zone Libraries

Benzie County has several libraries that offer a variety of experiences that go beyond books, but they have them too. Many Benzie County libraries also offer programs for adults and children.

Benzie Shores District Library
