Obituary of Guadalupe Rios (1949 – 2021) – Monroe, MI

Guadalupe “Lupe” Rios, 72, from Monroe, died on Friday, November 26, 2021 at the ProMedica Regional Hospital in Monroe.
Born June 1, 1949 in Middleton, Michigan, Lupe was the son of the late Ramiro and Lidia (Marroquin) Rios. He married Maria Yolanda Vasquez on July 20, 1968 in Donna, Texas. Together, they raised three children.
Lupe worked for Ford Motor Company at the Monroe Stamping Plant as an assembler and welder. He retired in 2007 after 38 years of service.
Lupe was a member of UAW Local 723 and St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. He was previously a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church where he was a member of his Knights of Saint Joseph. He enjoyed volunteering in his old ward and was active in the local work of God! Program.
Lupe is survived by his 53 year old wife, Yolanda Rios; her children, Julian (Betsy) Rios, Teresa (Scott) Reaume and Daniel (Brandi) Rios, all of Monroe; eight siblings: Ramiro Rios, Jr. from TX, Susana (Juan) Salinas from TX, Reynaldo (Elida) Rios from TX, Rodolfo (Joyce) Rios from TX, Rosalinda Smith from DE, Ricardo (Cathy) Rios from DE, Anna (Keith) Whitney from DE, and Odelia Rios from Texas; four grandchildren: Martin (Kimberlee) Rios, Noah Rios, Adalynn Rios and Gabriel Rios; two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Magnolia Rios; and two sisters-in-law, Mary and Olga Rios.
In addition to his parents, Lupe was also predeceased by three brothers, Jose Luis, Arturo and Rene Rios; sister-in-law, Yolanda Rios; and brothers-in-law, Larry Smith and Rick Garza.
Family and friends can visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30 at the Bacarella Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Lupe will rest as is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Catholic Church. The Christian burial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Giancarlo Ghezzi followed by the burial in the Saint-Joseph cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to Monroe Council 1266, Knights of Columbus.
