LARSON, Thomas “Larry” Lawrence
July 12, 1953 — August 10, 2022
After a long and fierce battle with cancer, Larry passed away at Kelowna General Hospital with his wife and son by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate of 41 years, Brenda; son Matt (Jessica); grandchildren Liam and Madison; brothers Earl and Carl; and sisters Karin and Judy. Larry was predeceased by his parents Nelvin and Ethel; brothers George, Allan, Raymond, Nelse, Cecil and Ricky; and sisters Becky, Jean, Irene, Viola and Fern.
Larry was born in Prince George, the youngest of 16 children. He wore many hats throughout his life. First and always, a mechanic, due to his love of muscle cars, especially the Dodge Challenger. Larry’s first job was as a greaser at Happy Bear Safety Service. He then worked at Rutland Tire with his brother Earl. Then he switched to Western Frame and Alignment for a while, after which he switched to Western Star. It was when Western Star closed that he started a new look with a carpenter’s hat, and started with SRI Homes in Lake Country, as an assembler and jack-of-all-trades, where he remained for thirty years until his retirement. in 2019.
Larry was a great friend to many, always there to lend a hand or strike up a conversation with a beer on the porch. His smile, his sense of humor and his many stories about “store guys” are forever etched in our memories.
Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. It was the hat he was most proud to wear. He was a gentleman in the truest form of the word. Her warm hugs and awesome smile were so genuine and her love so real. Rest in peace, without pain, until we meet again, we will remain your family.
Special thanks to Dr. McCloskey, Dr. Wiesenthal, Dr. Bains and Dr. Banwell for their dedication and care throughout his journey.
