8 MNS employees detained for trying to distribute Raj Thackeray’s letter over loudspeakers

EIGHT MAHARASHTRA Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers have been arrested for allegedly assembling and planning the distribution of Raj Thackeray’s letter to the people of Chembur. On Thursday, Thackeray, through his letter, called on people in Maharashtra to report to the police if the loudspeaker volume being played exceeds the permitted limit of 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night. The MNS leader also urged party workers to ensure the letter reaches every household in the state. As a result, the eight workers had gathered near Khadi Machine at RCF in Chembur to distribute the letter.

Senior Inspector Balasaheb Ghavate of the RCF police station said: “We received information that they were going to collect and start distributing letters to residents, but we caught them in advance.

The eight people arrested are identified as Dyaneshwar Thorve, Vijay Garje, Hasmuddin Shaikh, Datta Patkare, Ashok Sangale, Santosh Gaikwad, Parshuram Bobhate and Vijay Neekalje.

They were arrested under Section 188 (disobeying an order duly issued by an official) of the Indian Penal Code as well as Sections 37(3) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. They were later released on bail, Ghavate said.
